50 Cent Taps Alicia Keys & Dr. Dre For New Single
50 Cent may have ruined/tarnished careers
during his prime, but he has moved on from his immature ways and is
making amends with people he once slandered–particularly women. He
settled his differences with Oprah and apparently has become cordial with Oprah’s good friend, Alicia Keys.
In 2008, Keys reportedly made statements to Blender regarding
gangsta rap being a ploy spearheaded by the government to get black
people to kill each other. She clarified her statements in a follow-up
interview, claiming the magazine misconstrued her words. Despite her
clarification, 50 said he doesn’t like her anymore.
Four years later, the New York natives have settled 50′s pettiness
and are working on music together. In a recent interview with Digital
Spy, 50 announced the first official single from his forthcoming album, Street King Immortal, would arrive today (Tuesday) and that it features Keys and Dr. Dre.
Alicia has done records with NY’s finest (see Nas’ “Warrior Song” and
Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind”), so I’m intrigued to hear what she
contributed to 50’s project. Undoubtedly, Dre’s contribution will be
nothing less than impressive.
