Alicia Keys Raises $2.9 Million For Keep A Child Alive + Honors Oprah
Alicia Keys
honored Oprah Winfrey, Angelique Kidjo and Padma Lakshmi for their
philanthropic endeavors at her annual Black Ball. With the help of
Stewart Rahr, the man who single-handedly revived Keys’ “Digital Death”
campaign, Alicia raised over $2.9 million for Keep a Child Alive, a
charity that assists those affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.
Country
icon Bonnie Raitt made Keys’ dream come true by performing her classic
song “I Can’t Make You Love Me” as a duet. Jennifer Hudson and Brittan
Howard of Alabama Shakes also performed with Alicia. Whoopi Goldberg
emceed the event.
