Nicki Minaj: ‘5 & 6-Year-Olds Have To Be Parented By Their Parents’
Yet again, another Pop star has stepped on a soapbox to announce their relinquishment of role modeling duties.
As we know, Nicki Minaj
swiped Lil’ Kim’s style, but she also adopted the lifestyle of Pop
culture plastic icon, Barbie. Minaj flaunts her seemingly artificial
exterior around in oddly crafted costumes, pink cars and colorful wigs,
all things that attract the attention of young girls. Although obviously
marketing herself to a younger crowd, the 29-year-old woman feels they
should not look to her as a figure with parental influence.
While on The View,
Minaj said that “5 and 6-year-olds have to be parented by their
parents,” a clear slap in the face to parents who have little girls that
imitate her over-the-top antics and recite her vulgar lyrics (Hi,
Sophia Grace and Rosie). These parents have afforded her a lifestyle
only seen in Barbie movies, yet she subtly insults their parental
skills.
Of course, parents should monitor what/who their kids are listening to, but Pop stars should also be mindful what they are disseminating to a world filled with naïve minds.
