Sean Kingston, Chris Brown, and Wiz Khalifa Channel Rat Pack in ‘Beat It’ Video
It’s still spring, but Sean Kingston is throwing his hat in the race for song of the summer with his single “Beat It” featuring Chris Brown and Wiz Khalifa. Kingston recently shot a video for the song, which he promises will show him in a new light.
The bass-heavy banger, which is the first single off his upcoming album Back 2 Life, came together unexpectedly. “Chris was in my house one day. He was doing a painting on my wall and he heard the song and was like, ‘Yo, what record is that?’” Kingston tells Rap-Up.com. “I was like, ‘I think this is gonna be my first single.’ And he was like, ‘Put me on.’ I was like, ‘Man, you bullshitting.’ He was like, ‘Nah, put me on.’”
It wasn’t long before Wiz also jumped on the record.
“We went to the studio the next day and [Chris] did the record and I
played it for Wiz and Wiz said the same thing,” he says. “I never
initially asked these people to go on the record. This was all organic. They wanted to be a part of the record, so it’s just a blessing.”
They shot a video at a mansion in Malibu last month with director Colin Tilley. “The video is crazy. We shot it at this fly big mansion, a lot of beautiful girls. It’s just the modern day Rat Pack,”
explains Kingston. “I’m 23, we all grown, so you really see us in a
different light. We’re in suits, hot in fashion, just very swag and
everything’s real tasteful. Helicopters, luxury cars, Ferraris, classic
cars, it’s just really on some boss…”
The video will premiere on April 29, while Kingston’s album Back 2 Life is due later this year featuring collaborations with Shakira, T.I., 2 Chainz, and Busta Rhymes.
